And my DSL is back (kinda) and I'm nearly packed and ready almost) to head to Michigan and have my yearly happy dorm room party reunion. I promise to eat right (should I laugh now?) and sleep decent hours (when is lightning striking me down?).

Less than a week away and even with no zine out this year, I'm stressing over flyers. What the hell? LOL.

The perfect quote really to summarize all that is rolling up to MWC: fanzines, PRs, Fan Qs, hotels, the works. As Andrews so unintentionally accurately put it...

Well, it's that time of year and I'm going to try something new this year by extending a list of what zines Pyramids Press has that are eligible for FanQ 2009. Whether us or another published zine (and believe me there were tons!), please consider supporting your favorite independent publisher and their pursuits in keeping the wonderful culture of fanzines alive!

Monday's a sad marker or puncuation mark on Mediawest. Goodbyes and hugs in the hotel is never as sad as the terminal in DTW. Saying see you next year in the hotel never seems too dismal, but hopeful that you will see them next year. Yes, I have discovered saying goodbye within the Holiday Inn still wraps you like an afghan in the illusion the con wasn't ending. I'm not a chick-flick person; goodbyes are usually mumbled and lost in hugs. In the airport, when reality comes in the form of an airplane, I want to do a Sammy-lower-lip. -wibbles-

What blows my mind every single year is that people are nice. Totally. Completely morally generous with their personalities, souls, everything. Shows me a little more hope. Shows me despite a few changes in my life, they're still my constant. It's why I am always grateful to MediaWest and would love to do something for it; I met most of everyone through Mediawest. I met my touchstones, [livejournal.com profile] myfieldnotes and [livejournal.com profile] penfoldx, through Mediawest.

The con doesn't have actors, no famous Hollywood melon heads. What Mediawest does have is friends. We got enough of the money grabbing -coughcreationcough- cons out there, but Mediawest had always been about reuniting with friends, sharing the passion of a show and sharing fic. Buying fanzines? Well, that's just cake. The friends is the frosting.

Many things beyond a bear's control happen, hence my absence on LJ. But before I go "wah wah"  on my LJ, I thought perhaps I spend my time typing up a more worthy cause. All fanzine lovers and MediaWest Com goers take note, pleas
