FAN SQUEE: Mediawest and Counting
May. 21st, 2010 12:02 amLess than a week away and even with no zine out this year, I'm stressing over flyers. What the hell? LOL.
Monday's a sad marker or puncuation mark on Mediawest. Goodbyes and hugs in the hotel is never as sad as the terminal in DTW. Saying see you next year in the hotel never seems too dismal, but hopeful that you will see them next year. Yes, I have discovered saying goodbye within the Holiday Inn still wraps you like an afghan in the illusion the con wasn't ending. I'm not a chick-flick person; goodbyes are usually mumbled and lost in hugs. In the airport, when reality comes in the form of an airplane, I want to do a Sammy-lower-lip. -wibbles-
What blows my mind every single year is that people are nice. Totally. Completely morally generous with their personalities, souls, everything. Shows me a little more hope. Shows me despite a few changes in my life, they're still my constant. It's why I am always grateful to MediaWest and would love to do something for it; I met most of everyone through Mediawest. I met my touchstones, myfieldnotes and
penfoldx, through Mediawest.
The con doesn't have actors, no famous Hollywood melon heads. What Mediawest does have is friends. We got enough of the money grabbing -coughcreationcough- cons out there, but Mediawest had always been about reuniting with friends, sharing the passion of a show and sharing fic. Buying fanzines? Well, that's just cake. The friends is the frosting.

But before I go "wah wah" on my LJ, I thought perhaps I spend my time typing up a more worthy cause. All fanzine lovers and MediaWest Com goers take note, pleas
