While I loved my old format, I'd notice any fics I post gets squished within my lovely Bloggish template. (wubbles pull the 'woe' face) Personally, I like how some writers' posts in a totally new, no frills page. Can't figure out how's its done so until I do, I'd switch to a different template that spreads the fic out more. Hopefully, it'll be easier to read. (now, to get readers, lol) The sad part of this was it took me three hours as I went through every imaginable template this LJ has to offer. Everyone needs a shiny new toy to play with. Mine's online. Hee.

Oh, yes, LJ has lots of ways to help you waste your time!

As for the no frills page, I think it's a function of the clicky and not the way the story is loaded. I've noticed that it does it sometimes, but not everytime when you post long fics. *shrugs* Thus are the mysteries of LJ.

Greeeat. Must be why LJ sometimes takes forever to load a page and sometimes it takes just a blink. Roll of the dice, I guess.

Nuts. I have a long fic. Not really long, but long enough to be annoying. Maybe I should just split it in parts?

I adore your icon and the cute photo idea!

I don't really have any advice on posting long fic to LJ beyond saving it as a text document and posting the clean text copy because word inserts so much junk coding into its documents. It really makes a difference in how much you can post.

*bounces* a long fic? Cool!!

As for the icon, I can take no credit for it. I've snurched it from somewhere. But yes, Daniel is so pretty ;-)

I do love yours. I've not seen a lot of icons with John Wincherster!

Oh, don't get too excited. Not SG-1 I'm afraid. It's either Torchwood or Supernatural. :)

LOL

Just so you know Torchwood OR Supernatural would be just as welcome!

*perks up* Really? I was feeling bad that I migrated to a new fandom. I play in all, but there was something lonely about moving into a new fandom and not seeing a familiar face like in SPN.

One fan once professed relief from upon going into SG, she was at ease when she saw people from Sentiinel. Like seeing a playmate you know by the monkey bars. LOL

Oh, yeah, that's exactly what it's like!

SG-1 was my first fandom, so moving on from there was like leaving behind my very best friend. I'm still in SG-1 fandom, and I've found some new friends in the new fandom, but I've never felt quite as comfortable there as I do with SG-1. It's lovely to see you!!!!

LOL. I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but lord, I want a reason to post all these lovely icons. *eg*

You're right. I think nothing can really capture the magic and excitement as SG1. If I was to channel Carter or McKenzie (eek! Stargates in my closet), that show came in the height of the internet and I think there was a common thread of first explorations for all of us. I know it was for me: it was the first time I'd used the internet, pc, and discovering fanzines. Plus, I met amazing people I never would have if it weren't for SG1. And for that, Stargate will *always* hold a special place in my heart.

LOL Well, I'm enjoying your lovely icons, so post away!

*makes a note to self to find lovely Torchwood icons*

SG-1 prompted me to find online fandom. I was so amazed that there was such a huge community of people out there who felt just like me. It was so scary and thrilling to discover new friends like that. I wrote my first fan fic for SG-1. It was the most scary thing I'd ever done to post my first story online!

Yeah, no matter how far I wander, I always have SG-1 in my heart ;-)

Oh, also, I think how many comments a post has gotten can also affect how long it takes a page to load. I've seen some pages take forever to load because not only is the story long, but there's a ton of comments besides.

Hm, yes it could be due to comments on a fic. I should have that problem. LOL.
