Because Mediawest wasn't just about fanfic. It was about...well...the media, in this case, television. Name dropping, episode exchanging was the name of the game in Mediawest. Business as usual and a heck of a lot of fun sharing the best a show has to offer. You get to relive that feeling of discovering your show.
Shows Being Pimped Until My Eyes Bled At Mediawest
Merlin: Good grief. It was like Jan Brady and the "Marsha, Marsha!". This show was mentioned more times than I can count. Coming to NBC in June, this British import has set the con abuzz. In particularly, because Anthony Stewart Head (Rupert Giles of Buffy) is in it.
Leverage: Not surprisingly, this show which crept into TNT this year has stolen people's focus. Top three things I was told about it was banter, wit, and camaraderie. Hm. Three things that made me download from a fellow fan to check the show out. Be afraid. Be very afraid. LOL...
Doctor Who: Not a new show (well, depends on which Doctor you root for), this import from the UK has been around for ages in some form but had been hibernating until it's return in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. It's nice to see the renewed fever pitch of excitement for this series. Hopefully, fic will spring up from this.
Flashpoint: Okay, even I was guilty of the pimping at this one. It's fast paced, there's team bonding and look, they like each other.
NCIS: Whoa, I'm not sure how all of the sudden, good ole team-dynamic, consistent NCIS was suddenly on people's radar. Half of me cheered this show of dysfunctional but dedicated agents was getting their spotlight at last. The other half of me said "Where have you been?" LOL.
The Mentalist: SIMON BAKER Need I say more? I do? Okay. Team? Fabulous. Angst? There in double meanings and facial expressions. Dialogue? Snappier than a new rubber band. And oh? Did I mention Simon Baker?

And an earlier, explanatory tweet:
"@NathanFillion: Xmas- not sacrileous commercialism. From the Greek, Xplorós. Meaning Christ.
Holy Xplorós, it was hot today."
