I have a LJ. I should really post more. Hence the clumps of data under the LJ cut below.
Really, it's been interesting last year for television. We had a writer's strike, character assassinations and the mass plots of "Who will survive?" cliffhangers at the end of their truncated seasons that made my teeth clench all on their own.
As if by some Nielsen-fueled fiat, it seemed like every show I was watching either killed one of my characters, killed one of my character's persona (hence character assassination), or split my team dynamic like a split bag of Skitties.
Shows I Got Really Peeved At:
1. CSI (Warrick...wah)
2. House (everything!)
3. Bones (Zach, Sweets, the Angela/Hodgins getting sidetracked, Scully)
4. Grey Anatomy (do I really need to explain that one?)
5. Supernatural (maybe not peeved as to bummed out)
6. Lost (I simply got too 'lost' it when they 'lost' the island)
7. Heroes (are you kidding me?!)
8. Numb3rs (Charles Eppes cliffhanger)
9. NCIS (MD was really annoying me)
10.Prison Break
11.Primeval (I was seriously thinking vegan at some point)
12.UNIT
Upon reviewing...wow, I watch a lot of shows. LOL.
Shows That Redeemed Themselves To Me And Didn't Even Have To Promise Me A Rose Garden:
1. NCIS (yea, they're back!)
2. Numb3rs (maybe...possibly)
3. Supernatural (with no more deal hanging over them and if they can shske off the abysmal air of doom)
4. Bones (no, Sweets hasn't grown on me, but Bones and Booth are back)
Shows I Didn't Think I'll End Up Liking But Did:
1. The Mentalist (oddly enough, when I heard 'Simon Baker', I had thought 'Huh? The Doctor on US telly?' LOL)
2. Top Gear (Oliver!)
3. Flashpoint (new, one ep in, father from Veronica Mars)
4. Psych (when I stop laughing, I'll tell you why)
5. The Closer (a surprising crime drama that snuck up on me)
6. Primeval (yes, I know, they're on the peeved list too but if you were watching, you'll understand why it's on both lists)
7. Burn Notice (fans self)
8. Chuck (and the scary part is, I get the geek jokes in there)
Shows I Will Always Love Even If You Put Paris Hilton In It (well...maybe):
1. NCIS (because regardless of mistakes, the show has been constant in growth)
2. Supernatural (because dark, sad, mad, JP and JA are just too lovable to stay peeved at)
3. Doctor Who (do I really need to say more?)
4. Torchwood (okay, do I really need to say more? as for Hilton, it would never happen. She can't do accents. Actually...she can't act! LOL)
5. Law and Order: CI (then again, I might reconsider if Hilton became a homicide detective and not a 'victim of the week')
6. Aces of Cakes (it's about cake. I like cake, okay? LOL)
7. Top Gear (Again, Oliver! LOL)
8. Mythbusters (it's adolescent, it's brain stimulating, it's just fun)
That's all I can think of, really. Anyone out there with their lists they want to share? I have now posted on LJ, therefore I am. :)

Date: 2009-01-14 01:37 pm (UTC)Okay, when I said 'don't pick up much', I meant, 'pick up one channel that isn't watchable most of the time anyway due to static, so I haven't actually even turned on the local news in three or four years'. We don't plan to do anything about the digital conversion. We have broadband internet, so when we really want to see something (like election results), we watch online. And there are ever-increasing opportunities to watch broadcast TV online too, though I rarely take advantage of them.
*g* When one of the local cable providers tried to sell us some ghastly expensive TV package, I told the salesperson, "We have 5000 books and one television channel. You do the math!"
DVDs are great, however...and our public library has an excellent DVD collection.
