mrwubbles: (Wubbles angry)
Okay, letting Wubbles have free rein here today as Fan-Girl steps aside for the bear with no mouth have his say.

Sunday, time for family, time for catch up, time to basically have some fun. Right? Right. Okay, so we went for a movie. X-Men: The Last Stand. Finally got to go after angst-ing over the fact that we couldn't go before because we needed to be at Mediawest.

Note I said needed to be at Mediawest because really, when you put them on scales, hm, fanzines or $11 movie ticket, fanzines or $11 movie ticket....LOL.

Anyway, went to see X-Men: The Last Stand. Don't worry, no spoilers here but I will now step aside for Wubbles to rant:

Ready, Mr. Wubbles?

WHO BRINGS THEIR 3 YEAR OLD TO WATCH THIS?!

(Wubbles waves the handcuffs, Fan-Girl climbs up to soapbox)

Okay, same theater complex, showing Cars and Over the Hedge. Way more age-appropiate. Instead, I counted 5 kids under the age of 8 watching X-Men: The Last Stand.

(Wubbles and Fan-Girl exchanges disbelieving looks)

Am I being a prude? Is this an acceptable thing for parents these days? Heck, I still remember when I was 4 and my dad taking me to see ET and he worried it might not be good for me and he barely spoke English and movie ratings back then were much more generalized.

Never mind the fact the kids were kicking someone's seat and hence started a shouting match at one point, but there were sections where the kids started to cry because it was scary. What did the parents do? None of them would take the kids outside, some even hiss to them to shut up because they're ruining the movie.

Someone out there clear things up for me. Why, why, why take a kid to see X-Men. Save babysitting money? Family bonding time? PG-13 doesn't really mean PG-13? Or are Wubbles and Fan-Girl just being prudes?
