Mr Wubbles is in for a shock...(MWC 2006)
May. 24th, 2006 11:40 amYes, it's May again and it's time for another adventure to Lansing!
....
Okay, forgiving the less than spectacular locale of Lansing and while Fan girl here long to say Egypt or even Vancouver, Lansing does have its highlights.
Mediawest Con.
Oh, yes, where else can I gather among the rest of the secret society of write, written, and read under one small roof and enjoy the plethora of fanfic galore? Think of it as Fanfiction.net but live.
Flight was uneventful, minusing the people on my tiny airplane flight from Newark to Detroit, especially the five gentlemen around me who must have secretly voted not to bathe for the next week or so. (Mr Wubbles gagging here. Fan girl promptly gives him an Oxygen tank...)
Drive in overstuffed van (not you, Wubbles) with luggage precariously perched over Fan girl's head, we drive over S. Cedar and shock!
Denny's, a MWC goer's salvation from the 3am munchies was CLOSED. (Mr. Wubbles is shocked and proceeds to look over the Lansing yellow pages for other 24 hour places...Silky Feathers Bar and Grill?!?). Fan girl and Mr Wubbles share an apprehensive look. Oreos, anyone?
All my luggage got here safely which is good but the staff CAN'T FIND HALF MY SHIPPED BOXES. (Mr Wubbles does imitation of Edvard Munch's Screamer. "Nooooooo.") Fan girl proceeds to call like any annoying gnat until boxes are found.
....
....
Four hours later...
After much pacing and much calling (do they charge for front desk calls?) wayward boxes finally found, Fan girl does a happy dance as it would so suck if boxes of zines were lost. MWC so far is looking up now...
Mr. Wubbles, on the other hand, still looking for other 24 hour places to eat. (Smokey Dan's BBQ Pit?!?! Free dance floor with every cocktail? Oooh....Wubbles fascinated at the eclectic offerings of Lansing. No, Mr. Wubbles!)
And the MWC adventure continues...
Score So Far: 0 fanzines bought, 4 coffees, 5 hours of sleep, 2 biscuits and 1 open faced roast beef consumed at Bob Evans, 3 biscuits and lots of chicken&dumplings consumed at Cracker Barrel
