Here we are again, scant days away from Mediawest. So of course, I must make my annual list of things I wish I could bring...

I'm back from Mediawest and five days worth of no computer, no Internet, no WiFi, no email, etc, etc. I survived. (I think). I was not super anxious to get to a keyboard. Then again, days of just chatting, visiting, zine hunting, squeeing and the occasional, inconvenient hassle of calorie consumption might have had their part in that. Yes sir, I enjoyed MWC, reunited with friends and enjoyed being unplugged.

Then I got home and found my DSL was still down.

Just one more day and I'm off to Lansing. Aside from no zines this year (yet oddly the stress has not ebb), I will also be w/o my laptop.

And my DSL is back (kinda) and I'm nearly packed and ready almost) to head to Michigan and have my yearly happy dorm room party reunion. I promise to eat right (should I laugh now?) and sleep decent hours (when is lightning striking me down?).

Less than a week away and even with no zine out this year, I'm stressing over flyers. What the hell? LOL.

I love perfect-bound. I love pretty zines. I loves nice bound, sleek, yummy gen, warm and comforty, friendship fanfic. All wrapped up in a reasonably priced yet huge zine doesn't hurt either!

I wish I could take credit for it. Alas, this gem is from the publishers of Jumper, the fanzine for gen Stargate Atlantis fic.

Nice, huh? It's 6" X 9", perfect bound, gen fic with a strong emphasis on friendship between Shepard and McKay. But you better hurry: pre-con orders for the Mediawest pickup ends May 21, 2010.

It's already mid-March! Oddly, even with all of the Pyramids Press staff taking breaks from fanzines this year, a part of me still stresses over preparing for Mediawest*Con 2010.

In honor of the upcoming con, aka "the biggest family/friend reunion" this side of the Mississippi, I've posted some unofficial guidelines for May...

So, in MWC29, we did a panel. Two actually. (Eek) I really enjoyed these panels as we got some really good fic recs from it. My partner-in-crime, myfieldnotes compiled the list. We did a SPN one too which will be up in a few days. Feel free to add new ones in the comments, anything with a good strong H/C to it. Gen if you please because there's a lot of good slash recs out there already, but hardly any gen and adding to our list would be great.

No one leaves Mediawest exactly the same. You always find yoursself with that extra list of things to watch/read/drool over. It's a metamorphosis a fan goes through in seemingly innocuous Lansing, MI. I blame all for my new fandoms in Mediawest and me for even listening...LOL

Because Mediawest wasn't just about fanfic. It was about...well...the media, in this case, television. Name dropping, episode exchanging was the name of the game in Mediawest. Business as usual and a heck of a lot of fun sharing the best a show has to offer. You get to relive that feeling of discovering your show.

-cringe- I know, I know. I meant to post daily all the wonderfulness of MWC. In typical MWC, I got sucked into conversations, vids, fic ideas, zines, panels and--what do you mean it's Monday, already?! I'll do my best to do a few followup reports. I wanted to post questions here that popped up during Mediawest because conversation, fanfic and friendship was what this con was all about.
