TV Reaction: 9X08 "Engaged Part 1" (NCIS)
What cruel, maniacal, twisted son of a TV writer invented TO BE CONTINUED?!
From the not-so subtle reference to the Miracle on the Hudson to how each cast member responded to the crime scene, I was captivated. I even liked the chaplain, despite the doomdoomdoom I heard when I spotted her red hair. The actress (need IMDB) from Eureka was one of my favorites and she did a really nice job as the competent and sympathetic chaplain, avoiding the "Hi, female guest potentially murdering girlfriend of the week" trope many shows favor.
Loved how the team responded on scene, how they reacted was so powerful and their normal antics toned down in reflection of what they saw before them. Jimmy singing to stay awake FTW. The flashbacks were few and fitted so well. Mark Harmon's son made for a perfect Young!Gibbs. And Shannon? Sniffle.
Thankfully, Competent!Tony is here again and while Ziva was a little too perfect for me (okay, you speak many languages, whee, but Daniel Jackson knows 25, ha! lol), she and the rest of the team were still team, family, supportive an--hey! Only Gibbs can headslap Tony!
Um...as I was saying, great episode. But I reserve squeeing until next week, to see how part 2 bookends what turned out to be an emotionally satisfying part 1 for me. Two parters tend to be weak; writing has to be really strong and solid to hold up being split apart like that because anticipation over Part 2 could work against it.
(fingers crossed)

[Whoever did it must be a close friend the good Messrs. Moffat and Gatiss. :-P ]

Alas, the bane of fan-viewers everywhere, universal in its pain. LOL.

AARRGGHH!!!
But, they *are* promising us 'Gibbs going to the field doing Marine Stuff' So that helps take the edge off a bit.
But it's a whole week! [whimper]

I blame Dallas for creating the "ultimate" cliff-hangers. They were the ones who started it all with the "Who shot J.R.?" routine.
But... I still think they're leading up to something with Tony. The way he's been behaving this season, the way his memory is working, and now he was working on a bucket list? I wonder what they've got in mind for him.

So long they don't negate everything with a 'Tony in the shower'
....
Wait, let me rephrase that...LOL
Yes, it really does feel like they're rolling up to something for Tony or Tony hasn't truly recovered from the season opener.
